‘The Joy of Slow: Helping You and Your Dog Thrive in a Fast World’ a webinar by Carl Honoré, bestselling author, broadcaster and the global voice of the Slow Movement, hosted by the Slow Dog Movement 2021 Speaker Series, 9 December 2021

Meeting Carl Honoré last year was an absolute dream!…

What can ´The global guru on the Slow Movement’ teach you about slowing down with your dogs? Carl’s message is simple but counterintuitive: To thrive in a fast world, you have to slow down. Switching down a gear or two can bring more depth, pleasure and meaning to your life. It can boost your health and make you more efficient, creative, and productive. This applies in every walk of life, from food and design to exercise and medicine to relationships, parenting, dog parenting and the workplace. Carl will share examples from around the world that show how we can all work, play and live better by unleashing our inner tortoise.

Though Carl is not an expert on dogs, he is an expert on helping humans slow down. It’s your dog that’s an expert on you! Your dog watches and senses every move you make, your emotional state and even knows if you are unwell. You can’t get anything past your dog! There is no denying it, the science proves that we have a symbiotic relationship with our dog companions.

We all know that our dogs watch us 24/7. They don’t buy it when you rush around the house and multi-task and then expect them to be calm, relaxed and ‘well behaved’ throughout the day. This is not about learning to be a ´couch potato’ - Carl says, ‘The key is to live every moment at the right speed.’
